I'm going to purchase some aftermarket a-arms for my Raptor, as I am going to start racing mx. One item I don't understand is why + forward? What will this do other then lengthen the wheel base? PLease explain.

Would this be the same as extending the swingarm?

Please help, I'm a bit confused.

Plus forward a-arms puts more weight to the rear of your quad making you get more traction. I would suggest taking a look at a set of Magnum A-arms they are really nice arms. 4130 Chromoly, chrome tie rods, Nickle plated arms(look pretty much like chrome), ball joints, grease zerks, bearings, I have seen a couple of these arms and they look really good, quality is first class.

 

I belive that the Raptor aftermarket a-arms only come in wider dimensions. I belive that the Raptor has no trouble with traction. I know most people are going with longer swingarms also. The +1 forward work out well on my banshee. Really helps the tires hook up.

I appreciate the reply. Actually, the majority of the a-arms available for the Raptor are + forward. Sure there are a few out there that offer them without forward but, most are forward.

So what your saying is it will change the wait characteristics of the machine, proving to put more weight on the back. Therefore, providing more traction? If that is true, why the heck would anyone want more traction from the Raptor? It hooks up plenty now. Shoot, I have been considering an extended swingarm, because with the motor mods I have, it hooks up too much. So much that it is just a wheelie machine, I can't use the power I have on tap.


Anyone with a good understanding regarding this issue? I sure can use some help!
