Hi
I'm new to ATV's and am woundering about the 5psi used in these tires. I just bought a Polaris 500 and I am courious how these tires stay on the rim at 5psi! I would think they would spin. Are they tubeless and is there any kind of sealant used on the beeding?. Also, how do you deal with flats on the trail. Can these tires be removed from the rim with tire spoons like on a bike?
Thanks,
Ringwood

The rim has a lip that the bead of the tire goes over that permits the use of the low psi. Its very effective in all but the most extreme cases. Thats when bead locks are used. I broke down all four tires on my sportsman but I won't do it again, the trick is to break the bead (or get over that lip on the rim). It was a royal pain.
When I go ridin I take a tubeless tire repair kit, very effective. I also take some valve stems. The valve stems can be installed from the outside if you are determined that you don't wanna walk. Most importantly you'll need air, I use CO2 cartridges and a inflator I picked up a a bike shop. I have used all of these at one time or another and it beats the heck out of walking several miles.
