I have had my Prairie 400 4x4 for a little over a year now. I ride in very muddy to very thorny and dry conditions. I have more plugs in my stock tires than I have lugs so I decided to go with some 6-ply tires. I just ordered some 26" ITP 589 M/S tires; my stock tires are 25". Did I do okay? What do you guys think of the 589's? During the summer we won't have much mud, except for the Brazos River bottom. $320 delivered from rockymountainatv.com...Their tires are the cheapest but MAN, they double up on the shipping!!

You did good, especially if you ride thorns. I am getting lighter tires, but I never see thorns.

I hope you don't have 10" rear wheels, I would loose them if I were you.

I do have 10" rear wheels. What problems will I have with them? I've already got the new tires on the way!

Don't worry, it is just my preference to change those 10" ones for 12" rims.

Two reasons:

1. Generally speaking, the same tire size on a 12" rim is lighter.
2. If you hate the tires, you can sell the 12" tires faster, or if you want to find a deal on ebay or somewhere else, you will find tires faster for 12" rims.
