I am thinking of getting either spider trac or blackwater tires for my new warrior but I was wondering which is a better tire, I ride mostly on trails some muddy, and very few sand pits. looking at getting 22 inch same as factory or would the 20 inch be better? Thanks

Hi,
I would recommend against the Blackwater for a sport type atv, they are pretty stiff, and won't give near the handling of the Spider Trac. I had the old Dick Cepek kind years back, they rode nice, pulled me through mud, sand and snow with ease, and wore real nice. Now they are made with the same carcass base as the Blackwater,so they are a lot more durable. They do run a little heavier than stock,so you may want to run 20" to keep the weight down, but that will be a matter of personal preferance on your part.

I run maxxis all-tracs on my warrior and I love them. They hook-up on every type of ground you can find.I had sur-tracs and hated them they sucked. As far as 20 or 22 I would not go to 20's I had some 20's on mine and the rear end was always getting hung up on everthing.

Spider Trac would be a better tire for your machine.

I agree with the majority here, Spider Tracs for your situation. I own a set of Spider Tracs for my 400ex, we got them YEARS ago like in '88 for my dads 250X...they still have decent tread! I have ridden Blackwaters and I agree you might find them a little stiff...just not as pleasant a ride that the more rounded Spider Tracs offer. Regarding the height issue...if ground clearance is an big issue where you ride, stay towards a taller tire, otherwise, you will probably benefit from going to a slightly smaller tire...less unsprung weight means slightly better handling, quicker acceleration, although slightly lower top speed, and sometimes taller, heavier tires can make a decent bike feel slower and less powerful. Let us know!

Spider Tracs definitely instead of blackwaters. The blackwaters are stiff and very heavy which will take some power away. Stay with 22 inch tires, or you'll lose an inch of ground clearance in the back. You might also want to consider those All Trac tires that bansheewarrior mentioned. I know a guy that has some on his warrior, and it will go anywhere. The tread seems to last pretty long too.

Ive had the lower profile blackwaters on my warrior and I will tell you that ANY tire would be better than those POS's.. They are heavy as sin, hard as rocks and they dont hook up in Sh*t.. nothing.

Get anything other than blackwaters.. I bought my warrior used with them on it..

I am looking for lighter/stock like, but wider/tires for my Grizz 660.Would Spider Tracks be a decent choice.I like 13" width.
All trak is #2 choice.Need to keep light steering/as light as possible/.What do you guys think.
I'd use them just for very litle muddy trails in the summer, mosty dry difficult trails/narrow,roots/.

Just a follow up to my question, I went and bought a set of GBC GATORS 22x11x10 on alum rims from treadepot.com Excellent tires in the mud also great for sand and hard packed. The first atv tire that is really worth the $$$. Thanks for all the help. Mike
