Help, help!. I am ready to get rid of my stock tires on my P650. I need a tire that is an all around tire since I mostly ride the trails but I want to be able to get thru an occasional mud area if I need to . What does the board think of the Titan 589? Any help would be appreciated. Trane

Great tire but pretty aggressive for what you ride. Check the Goodyear Mudrunner (smoother ride) or the Goodyear Rawhide.

I agree, Mudrunners would be a great choice for you. Most likely the best choice. Atvnews.com has a great review on the Mudrunners.

I went with Gators for mud/trails and I am quite happy with the hardpack performance. The Gators rock in the mud. See link below for pics if interested in Gator on 650 pics.

One more thing. 589's are aggressive but according to most, they ride nice on hardpack. The Gators are quite similiar but lighter weight and less money than 589's. I really like the Gators.

I am going to use the Gators for hunting and winter riding this year. They are merely two weeks old now and I got them in 27" which I really like. Next summer I am going to get a set of 25" Mudrunners for summer riding. From what I understand the Mudrunners and Gators are similiar in mud performance. It seems that the Mudrunners clean better than about anything out there and also give the best hardpack performance in regards to all-purpose tires.

Gators are great tires but suck in sand.

The Titan 589's are a nice aggressive tire that also have the rim guard, this is nice if you ride in lots of hazards. For all around use you may be better off with the Goodyear Mudrunner since it sounds like you spend more time out of mud than in it. The center lug design makes it quieter and smoother but still gives you the aggressive tread on the perimeter.

I've always thought that the blackwaters were good for trail riding . They hooked up really well on my wolverine, and my old man still uses them on his Foreman. A 6-ply tire is nice(but a little bit heavy). I never punctured mine. You should also look at the Maxxis All-Trac tires. They are very good for trails, and get you through mud really well too. Mike Penland uses them on his racing p-650...it's worth checking into.

I was riding 2 weeks ago with 6 other guys. Three of the six bikes had Blackwaters on them,of the three that had Blackwaters there were 4 flat tires due to side wall punctures. Maybe a coincidence but I've seen too many Blackwater tires leave people scratching thier heads on the trail. Some people rave about them, I personnally would not buy them the side walls bulge out to much.

I just put the goodyear rawhide grips on my 650 prairie. I love em.... nice ride for an agressive tire (real smooth) they are even a little taller than stock. No power loss, increased stability. I highly recommend them.
