Titan Turf Tamer ply rating
#1
#2
Unless their construction has been changed recently, the Turf Tamers have always been 2 ply tires with a soft rubber compound, which is why MXers preferred them...somewhat lighter than other tires such as Razrs, Holeshots, Bandits, etc, and with their soft compound they would provide better hook-up than some others.
One needs to be aware that many tires indicate their tires as XXX ply rated, which means that they are not truly the ply indicated but have the strength of the advertised ply. For example, a 4 ply rated tire is only a 2 ply, possibly as strong as a true 4 ply unless the tire suffers a ply separation, making it just a one ply.
Maybe the asterisk you saw indicated that explanation some where on the page.
Unless you strictly do MX or ride exclusively on groomed surfaces, there are better choices not only in strength but in wear characteristics.
