Desert Tires for 300ex
#2
I think you friend would be very happy with Bandit XC's for desert. I'm running my 2nd set of them on my Warrior & I ride only desert in the cool months and woods in the hot weather at 7000' They hook up really well on hard pack & soft terrain..not great in sand, however. As I understand, the 300ex is geared a little on the low side, so he may want to gear up a little taller by changing his c/s sprocket to a larger one, Rather than going to a bigger tire, or he may want to do both, depending on what he wants to accomplish.

Well, It depends on what type of riding you are going to do. If you plan to do a lot of low end stuff, dunes,or drags, then you'd possibly stick with the stock gearing. On the other hand if you intend to ride XC or desert, you might want to run taller gearing for less on the bottom & more on top. I run 20/10/9 Bandits on the rear and have geared up 2 teeth on the c/s to offset the smaller tire and give a little taller gearing besides. Now that the new Bandit's are available in a 22" size I may switch to them next.
