Default No oil and smoke. Honda 250 ex

Hey guys I have a problem I have a 2001 250 ex. Its running great but its smoking real bad. White smoke and the more you get on it the wors it gets. I checked oil and it was real low put more in and still smokes. Im new to the quad seen and not sure what it could be . How hard is it to take apart or is it better to leave it to a shop. Also if you have an idea what it might be how much could it be around to fix. Also if i keep driving it and put oil in as needed will it get worse. Thanks I realy need the help.

it surely doesn't smoke because it's low in oil, but could be low in oil because it's smoking ( burnig its oil ), the thing to do is put more oil and ride it a little bit... check oil several time to be sure you don't run him dry 'cause that could be the end.

if it burns its oil... it's eighter the valves seal, gasket or the rings... you know it means an engine work... if you're a mecanics go ahead if not you better find one or go see your dealer.

hope it helps

Hey Russ. White smoke is usually caused by worn vavle seals and/or valve guides. On such a new quad i'm not really sure which would cause that much usuage so soon....but it sounds like you'll need some top end engine work. Valve seals are fairly simple to do, if your mechanicallly inclinde...you can pick up a service maual for your machine, they have a lot of good info to help you repair it, or figure out whats wrong. For now you could try a slightly thicker weight oil...if your running something thin now, or a different brand of oil too, that may help. IF you keep driving it may or may not get worse...hard to say, but you really should try to get it fixed when you can. Cost wise...seals would be inexpensive, but at a shop, its the labor that kills. Anyways, goodluck

probably valve seals mine started to smoke a little, and lucky it was under warrenty, but mechanic said the seals were hardened up, probably caused by over heating motor I don,t know how much it would cost but parts should be cheap just gasket for cylinder and seals,if you have a manual and someone that is fairly good wrench you should be able to do it yourself, hope that helps
