26" Mud Lite or Bear Claw for 2003 Kodiak 450
#1
Hi,
I'm getting ready to buy a set of 26" tires for my 2003 Kodiak 450 and would like some feedback on the ones I'm looking at.
I'm looking for a good general purpose tire with better than stock traction and ground clearance without killing performance tooooo much. I live in Western New York so will hit snow, mud, dirt, water, ... throughout the four seasons.
Bear Claws seem to be well liked for all of the above and they are said to wear well and be tough. The down side I see is that they are 15-20 pounds heavier for the set than Mud Lites. The Claws are probably $55-$65 less for a set of four.
The Mud Lites seem to be talked of well but not as often. I have seen some snow performance info but it talks of digging through the snow which to me from experience can be a bad thing.
What are your thoughts? Does this amoung of extra weight make much of a difference? Which tread is better for all purpose riding?
Thanks
