need suggestions for tire choice for my grizz.....
#1
I am looking to replace my grizz's stock tires and need some suggestions. Need more traction in muddy places and I'd also like to gain a little width in the stance to help stability in off-camber situations. Do I need to buy different wheels also or will aftermarket tires be wider than stock by themselves. Maybe I should just buy stock size aftermarket tires and add wheel spacers from highlifter or something. I don't know what the best options here are, so any help would be appreciated. I don't want to go too tall as I don't want to have to deal with a lift kit, so what's the tallest tire I should go with that won't require a lift kit. Besides, going taller would negate what I'm trying to accomplish by going wider to gain stability, right?

yamaguy, there are alot of tire choices to be made out there. You can keep your stock rims, they are 12 X 7"ers like all of the aftermarket ones. Go with a 26-10-12 front and 26-12-12 rear on the 589's, Mudlites or GBC Gators or Dirt Devils. They are all good in the mud and clean pretty good as well. If you want to go with new rims, go with the C-series Alum. by ITP. I got them with 25'' Mudlites on my Wolverine and it still kicks butt in the mud or trails. That is a very light combo as well. You don't need wheel spacers with the 26's or 27's to have more stability.

I have a sportsman 500 HO, my bud rides a griz 660 with Vampires on it.. we ride a LOT of muskeg/marsh/mud.... alot of it handlebar deep... if you want a serious tire... go with the vampires... nothin that i've ever seen even comes close. Trail riding isn't as horrible as you think it is by looking at the tire.... i expected it to be really rough and hard for cornering... but "STUCK SUCKS" so i bought em too...
was amazed how lil it changed the trail riding....an awesome tire... wont buy anything else from now on.
