Default bent my c-series---*#@!

i put one he!! of a ding in my rim yesterday. i was climbing a pretty steep hill and at the top was a couple of big rocks. i couldnt straddle them so i had to climb over them. i was going pretty fast to make it up the hill and when i hit the rock my hands got thrown off the handlebars. i knew as soon as i hit it that i bent it. i got off and sure enough i bent the sh** out of it. i also cut the tire slightly. it is still holding air. there is a small stress mark where the rim bent. i hope it will be ok. i dont need a split rim 10 miles into a trail.

What tires are you using? I recently put in ATR's with C-series rims, it would break my heart to ding my rims.

i have the mudlite 26" in my signature. however, if i had stock tires on, there is no doubt in my mind that i would have blown the tire and probably completely trashed the rim. yteah, that did break my heart, but what aere you going to do. these are trail bikes so i guess i have to suck it up.

Haynes1111- Prepare for heartbreak. The ATRs do not offer much rim protection. I have dinged the he!! out of my "C's"!
You can straighten some of the dings in the bead. You have to dismount the tire, though.

The ATR's rear tires offer good protection but I am worried about the front tires, only 5/8 inch of rim protection. I hate dinged rims but I cannot change the aggressive way I ride. I will hope for the best.
Have 2 rides this week. I will let you know.

I'm fairly annoyed to find out that my new outlaws offer virtually NO rim protection, much less than the atrs...

Lightman--- The Radial Outlaws that I bought last winter had a fairly large bead-saver shoulder. Yours do not????? Don't worry about the dings. If you get one large enough to leak, you can dismount the tire and beat it back out. Done it MANY more times than I'd like to recall! I know they look like $hit, with dents/dings in 'em, but that is life in the woods!

Trx, I have Outlaws. The radials might offer good bead protection but the regular outlaws offer zero. They do go thru mud like a friggin beast though =]
