St. Anthony's weekend at the dunes is crazy. We were there last year for it (accidentally). We didn't know ahead of time and found out once we reached the dunes. There were wall to wall people and I've never seen so many "street" cars parked on the beach. People were parked/stuck everywhere and very close to the water line since they just seem to park em where they get stuck! We've decided to avoid that weekend but hope everyone has a fun time!!!![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

so when is everyone's next trip to the dunes?

 

Snow-We will be there 8/7 thru 8/10. We always camp as far down as we can go. I guess that means pole 6 now???????? e-mail me if you are going to be around. We will have a large group (famlies with a lot of kids-about 50 riders) Die hard Glamis people, but most have never been to Pismo.

Last time I was there, the sand was all hacked up. The dunes were rounded off, with no lips left for jumping. You could tell there had not been any good wind in a while. Are you having a descent amount of wind this year?????? How crowded has it been?????

 

I might be able to make it the 7th or the 8th. The dunes have been great the past couple times I've been. I have some great pics from my last trip. The sand was nice and there were plenty of really nice jumps.

 

I'm heading to Pismo this weekend.

Last trip was in early may at it was horrid out there. THe wind was at 30+ It was really rough. EVERYTHING was getting stuck up and down the beach (including an 18 wheeler). Hopefully conditions will be better this weekend.

Has anyone been there lately? What are the conditions like? (Of course this could change.) The wind was bad and you about needed to climb a duner to get into the bathrooms at Pole 5. They brought out a CAT to get the sand out of there....hmmm....I wonder if you could run a CAT out there? I'm sure the Sierra Club would throw a hissy fit. Just to cruise out the highway...you'd level a dune even thinking about climbing on.
