I want to take the boss somewhere we can ride sand on our anniversary 11-1. I've been to Sand Mountain and St. Anthony now. Are there any other big dune areas that I should consider?
We'll spend at least 1.5 days riding and I won't mind a long road trip.
I've seen videos of Winchester Bay and it looks like a beautifull place. Can it support 1.5 days of riding or have you seen the place in half a day? I wouldn't mind hitting (2) spots that are relatively close together i.e. somewhere in the north west or south west. Maybe Oregon down to Pismo?

i think you would find that you could explore all of winchester in at the most one day but florence and coos bay could keep you going for days.florence has fairly large dunes with some beach riding and miles of wooded trails to keep you busy and while i do not have much riding time in at coos bay i know that the spinreel area has many miles of trails to ride also.

selector- i should have been more specific about the trails that i mentioned ,they are wooded trails but are of sand so no you do not need knobbies.riding on the coast of oregon in early november can be fairly wet and cold but it is usually warmer on the coast that time of year than here in the willamette valley where i live.i would say to not let the possibility of bad weather stop you from trying florence in november because the scenery is definitely worth it.

The milage issue coupled with the weather make for a very compelling Glamis argument. We've been married almost (7) years and my wife has had plenty of cold and dreary just living w/ me! I don't need to rub it in.
