raptor vs 400ex
#1
i am going to the dunes and a friend has challenged me to a race my raptor is piped and jetted and i have made 41.3 hp on a dynojet dyno he has a stock 400 ex but another friend has told me he says he will beat me by changing his front sprocket down a tooth will this make much of a difference
i have stock gearing and really dont want to change because i would like to keep some top speed for the long straights at the beach
anyone please reply no matter what your response is

Make sure its a longer run. Dont let him race you in a short run. If he knows about gearing he should be able to pull holeshot on you. But let your power run him down. If hes stock I dont believe he will pull much of a holeshot on you. You should be able to run him down by 3rd gear thats saying he gets a great jump. Dont over rev your bike and wheel stand. Move your body as far forward as you can to keep the nose down.

I've owned a stock 400ex and a stock raptor at the same time and changed off with my wife riding them and we both emphatically agreed the raptor is light years ahead of the 400ex with power and handling. The only thing the 400ex did better in my opinion was jumping. We sold the 400 and bought another raptor. I honestly don't know why anyone out there would buy a 400ex considering how outdated the technology is on it. You should waste your friend in that race.

you buy them for kids there great for them smooth power good handling, my 10 yr old does great on his and the 8 yr old rides it and does good also there just very easy to ride and with the lower weight of the kids they actually run pretty good.

the raptor do not handle better than a 400 ex .and we buy them because they are cheaper than raptor, lighter, more reliable ,they have a good power, easy to mod.,.....in my opinion the only thing the raptor have more is power
