Meth?

Methanol is usually referred to as Alcohol (or Alky) - meth is made in labs and will get you put in prison.

NOS is a brand name recently popularized by Hollywood, Nitrous Oxide (N20) - or nitrous is what most refer to it as. Not trying to be an A$$, just telling you because calling it "NOS" or naws makes you look like a poseur.

These two power adders are very different in their application.

Nitrous makes much more power more easily, but has more up front costs, is more complicated to install, and carries the potential of destroying your engine if you don't do it right. Nitrous's disadvantages are that it runs out... The bottle must be kept at a specific temperature to deliver consistant performance. It's power is instant, meaning when the switch kicks it on, you better be ready. If you ever go lean for any reason, instant engine damage will result. Nitrous's main application is going to be drag racing and hill shooting, otherwise it doesn't produce very useable power. Nitrous is setup on what's typically called a "shot" 10 shot = 10HP, 20 shot = 20HP. A certain amount of nitrous makes a certain amount of power regardless of other factors.

You do not run a bike on nitrous, it's sprayed into the intake along with the fuel as a supplement.

Alcohol is best used when the engine is built specifically for it. Alcohol is a fuel, meaning you run it instead of gasoline (unlike nitrous). If you put it in a stock engine, jet for it, etc, you will only notice minimal gains if any - usually just throttle response. The main advantage of Alcohol is that it keeps the engine much cooler and allows you to run very high compression ratios. With alcohol you can also mix other power adders like nitromethane (Gasoline also has it's own set of power adding supplements that are different than the ones used for alcohol).

Alcohol has several disadvantages - you will burn about twice as much of it (however, it typically costs half what race gas costs). It is more difficult to find than race gas. It requires a lot of "care" - i.e. tank draining, much more frequent oil changes, etc. It is poisonous & requires careful handling. It attracts moisture which is bad for power & bad for engine components.

Yes, you can use the two of them together in either a 2 or 4 stroke engine regardless of the number of cylinders.

Nitrous can be safe and reliable "if" its setup correctly and precautionary measures are taken to counter the effects of nitrous.(compression, timing, plug heat range etc)

Dry injection systems are what everyone seems to be running.Imo,these systems suck, but since most quads don't have fuel pumps, this is all we have to work with.

A wet system would be the best bet.We would see increased power levels and reliability issues would almost dissapear, granted you don't go overboard.

I ran a 150hp plate system on my 77' T/A.The engine was mostly stock,it just had an exhaust and aftermarket intake.I ran 15 bottles through that engine and it had 103,000 miles on it.

15.90 off the bottle
13.90 on the bottle

I am a believer in Nitrous!

Yes Nitrous can be safe - I just wanted to make sure he knew the dangers....

NX (Nitrous Express) sells wet systems for ATVs & the cost is almost the same as the dry systems like Boondockers is selling. If you are going to go the nitrous route, I'd strongly suggest looking at the systems NX offers.

86 250r im very expierinced with alky and nitr- meth, iv'e ran it for 2-years. I did not like it because I had a 4-gal tank and it would last about 45 mins. It sucks to perge and was very hard on my motor.I was wandering if 2 bikes built the same 1with a nitrous 20 shot and 1 with alky, wich bike would be faster on the hill or dragging. If i ran nitrous I would use a etg and a in line temp gauge for my rad fluid.I very good at jetting thanks to runing alky, i can jet to elivation and claimate temp.
