How far is it from Gordens to Glamis on the sand high way? Where do you get off to head into the dunes for Old's?

 

i believe its something like 20 miles. sorry i cant tell you where to break off, its pretty much burned in my head and i just know by my surroundings.

 

How do you deal with gas, do you have enough to go there and back?

 

we bring a little 1 gallon with us just in case. ive done longer rides on my R in open desert without bringing a 1 gallon so i cant imagine youd have a problem. your butt my fall asleep.

 

It's around 22+ miles. Get a 6-pack rack and carry a 2 or 2.5 gallon can.

 

if you ride up to about gecko loop and straight over youll run into olds hill, I did that run a few weeks ago on the gas gas and its got about a 5.25 gallon tank and i was burning fumes on the way back we did glamis to the river to the freeway over pass and back through the dunes to the closed area and then on to sand highway.. what an awsome ride!!!![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]
jsut keep in mind your wfo for like 20 min on sand highway so it sucks the petro pretty fast.

Heading out today, I want to make the trip to glamis to see the big guns.

 

Take sand hiway north of gordons well till you see the rvs parked on asphalt , thats the south end of gecko called roadrunner , now head east north/east and you will see it or try to follow the trails ,you will know when you get there. I recomend a GPS, they are cheap and always help in case of emergancys,mechanicle probs,lost or just want to mark a cool hill you've found. My Rappy took 1 1/2 gallons each way from wash 10 to Patton valley to gordons Pair a dice back to glamis FYI

 

Make sure to check out the sand drags on the way back. They will be a little further north on Gecko on the east side of the road around 4pm. Lots of nice things to look at!

 

I haven't made that run in a long time. I need to do it again!
