Best paddles for the DS
#1
Hey guys im lookin for the best paddles for my DS650, some mods not exactly a power house and I weigh 270 lbs.
I will be doin mostly hillclimbing, I think im mostly sold on straight paddles, I know Skat Trak has just about every possible combination of # of paddles, blade height and tire size. Dont get me wrong im not totally sold on Skat Trak because im not totally sure of how strong they are, the little dunes we have out here will suprise you with a piece of sand stone sticking out every once in a while and there is no way of avoiding it.
What do you guys think the best for strength/hill climbing.
Thanks for the help

22"? really, I do have a 15t front sprocket now with 20" razr 2's and it seems to struggle up hill in the sand is this because the razrs are digging to much, will the paddles extra floatation help me out with this expecially going from 20" to 22"

For the DS I recommend a 22" rear tire, helps compensate for the weight of the DS, more flotation. You will need to trim your heel guards because of clearance issues. The 22" skat trak extremes are a great choice, I would recommend a 9 paddle for your current mods. If you are on a budget I think the next best choice would be the 22" sand stars.

I run Extreme Haulers 22x11x10 9-paddle, with a 15t front sprocket. I wouldn't go higher than 9-paddles on stock bore. Definately go with the Extremes in 22", they will outlast the standard haulers.
I weigh 190lbs. At 270 pounds you may even want to gear down to a 15/42 or 14/40 ratio.
FYI - Anything related to the DS I would recommend posting in the Bombardier forum. You will get a lot more replies from DS owners.

I have used several different tire setups on my DS. The best of them has been the Skat trak extremes 22x11x10 10paddle haulers. They hook up the best for hill climbing and drag racing. The 20's dont give enough traction and the bike just seems to sink in the sand. Edges have less forward traction but allow you to carve the hills. I have tried others and them just dont have enough forward bite.
