Default Sand Gearing??

Hey everyone.... I have just recently become hooked on riding in sand. I just got done getting Sand Stars.... and now my Raptor will only pull 3rd gear in a drag race.... when I shift into 4th.... it just doesnt have enough power.... and I don't have enough money to pipe it quite yet. I have considered dropping to a 12 tooth sprocket up front.... do you think that would help me out??

Thanks.... I am going to ask a dealer tomorrow how much a 12 tooth will cost. Also... today... I removed my spark arrestor on my stock pipe.... do you think I need to rejet, or will the difference be very small?

Wiemer-If you are primarily interested in short drag races then you could gear as low as 12-44 and still have a lot of top end.Gearing is one of the cheapest mods that you can do that will make a very big difference. If you (only) removed your spark arrestor from your pipe then you should not have to re-jet. Although it may seem like you have enhanced your performance by removing your spark arrestor you have probably only added noise which can make it seem as if you have made gains when in reality you probably have not.Try the gearing change in increments to see if you need more than just the 12 tooth up front and keep in mind that enough of a gearing change on the rear will probably require that you lengthen your chain.

I went 12-44 for the sand, wanted it to climb, and I don't get to the top of 5th very often in the sand so the trade of is worth it
