We were thinking of going to Sand Mtn, NV for Halloween but now the weather is making us rethink the matter. Anyone out there live close to the dunes that can give me a weather update? If it is going to be covered in snow we may have to change to Dumont or Pismo. Any help would be appreciated.

 

Forecast for next week is 60's and partly cloudy...It's mid 40's with rain today.

 

I can handle 60's, just don't want to be in the snow. I don't think my paddles would work well. From your info, it seems we may get to see Sand Mountain after all. I am not sure about pulling my toy hauler over the passes, but we will give it a try. Thanks for the post

 

Yeah the problems getting over the hill! The Weather Channels web site is pretty good for Fallons weather.

 

i wouldnt worry about there being any snow.

what days you going to be there? Any fast bikes in your group? I may head out there some time around then.

 

Well, the last weather report is looking good, so I think we are going to Sand Mountain for the first time. I think I will buy some snow chains just in case Donner is bad.

You can see the bike I'm riding below. There will also be a piped and cam'd Z400 and I think both of my son's will bring their Banshees. One is an SS570 alcoholic and the other is an 8mill stroker. They both run pretty decent.
