Are the Douglas wheels that i see advertised in "kit" prices any good? I mean heck, anything has to be better than these stock Raptor Rims i'm beating on. I guess if i'm gonna shell out for the paddles i can go big or go home and buy the rims too!!!

This is what holidays are about aren't they? Spending all that hard earned Peso's?

TIA

Wish it were may already!!!

Douglas rims are great. Stick with the Black(.160) or Blue(.190) labels for the OR. dunes. Since you won't be doing this every weekend the cheaper Black labels should do just fine.

Blue is .125, black is .160, red is .190 thickness. For sand dragging and duning .125 are fine but if you are going to be in rough terrain or jumping opt for a thicker wheel.

I got .160 for rear on 20" sandstars and 10" wheels. On front I have .125 wheels on 22" sandstars and both work perfect! Oh and these are douglas wheels.

Just going by what is in the RockyMountain catalog for Douglas wheels. And as far as thickness goes most of the riding areas hear at the dunes in OR have trails through trees so the suggestion for a thicker wheel comes from bent rim experience.

maddog is right on the labels. So look for a black(.160) or a red(.190). Black should cover you for the OR dunes.

Sorry, Rptrguy, I don't know what happened to my previous message. Just was mentioning what others said about Sand Skate II's (not Sand Sharks).
Buy them mounted unless you have a set of rims laying around with no other use.
I use blue label Douglas, but I would recommend black if you plan to any jumping at all. But the lighter the rim the faster the rev.
Again, if money is an issue, just run the Maxxis. Also, if there are six of you and most don't have paddles, there is little reason for you to have paddles. If they all have paddles, you will definitely want them as well.

You can get sand d's for $110 on .125 alum. wheels. It is $39.99 per tire not on a wheel.
