Default Air Box lid

Im going riding in real sand for the first time ever this month, was wondering if a open airbox was going to be a problem, concerned about getting sand in my air filter and I don't have a lid for the box because it was specially built for my quad. Wasnt sure how much sand the tires would fling toward airbox.

are you running an aftermarket filter or stock??? If it is a UNI then dont worry about the airbox lid and rip the hell out of those dunes

Im running a K&N filter with a outerwear, is this the best filter to use in sand or would I be better off going back to a UNI or other foam type filter?

You might need to rejet if you remove the lid! Don't want to end up lean, and melt your engine.

My choice is http://www.ehsracing.com/

My buddies and I run K&N with outerwares, no lids. The K&N works good for sand, not so good in dusty conditions (trails).

me and all my buddies run K&N with outerwear and no airbox lid and all we do is ride sand... they work awesome... one of my friends has direct mounts on all 8 of his quads and he has never seen 1 spec of sand inside the engine.... plus they look way cooler than UNI's..

maybe you should check into mthe outerwears airbox cover
it is an outerwear that eliminates the stock lid and covers the whole airbox to keep out sand and dust
i have one and i am happy with it so far and no change as far as jetting from no cover
but you will need to rejet
