Hey: Guys

Just wanted to let everybody know that they are gone for good. Sand Hills Resort was sold to a new owner in Utah and he has some new people running it. I talked to the new management team last week when I made a reseveration. They seem very nice on the phone.
It was nice to talk to someone that did not have trouble understanding us Canadains (Shirley told us last year that she could not understand us Canadains). Last time I checked I also spoke English !!!

They also told me that they do have have plans to do some renovations as well.

The prices are significantly higher, and if you make a reservation.... don't plan on cancelling it, even if have an emergency, as there's no refunds....

I've also understood that the deposit is the entire cost of your stay, not just a percentage?

I'm glad Mean Gene and **** Shirley are gone, but I'm not so sure it will be better. I'm going to try the Oasis this year.

 

I don't mind paying for my whole stay up front. Put yourself in there shoes it has to be a nightmare to schedual with people changing there minds all the time and cancelling. If you pay up front then you are more like to show up when you are suppose too.

Yes the rates went up and they are pricey, but you can't beat the place if you are tenting.
Not much more then dirt @ the Oasis when I drove thre last year.

 

I agree it must be a nightmare, but you can't even cancel and get your money back 3 months prior to your visit???

A little bit rediculous if you ask me. Even Motels allow you to to cancell if you do it long enough ahead of time......

Still, I am going this June. Will be there June 13th -17th

 

Yep, it's a little silly if you ask me... One time I was on my way to the dunes, (Pretty long trip back then) and my truck blew the transmission... Nothing I could do about it, so I had to cancel the trip. Things happen, plans change, and with enough advanced notice, I should be able to cancel without giving up my entire reservation...
It is a nice place to stay for sure, well, at least the grass and trees are nice (Can't say the same for the bathrooms)

It will be interesting to see just how much business they have this year.

 

hi mrds650 is me from saskatchewan, just wanted to say hi,I was thinking of going down to the dunes this week but forecast is rain. How much did the rates go up? My buddy bought a 05 yfz special edition and piped it, he wants to go to the dunes with me. It will be interesting to see how it does against your ds if he goes . its piped kand n filter, bye for now.

I think you should bring the Grizz, it would be great for for hauling the Bar-B-Q and cooler around in the dunes - ha ha

Hey: Guys

Just got my conformation from the resort. I thought they would have some type on cancellation policy. Even the best hotels in the world won't charge you if you give them some notice and don't show up. This place is a campground only !!!

I would hate to think that they would not give you your money back if someone had a family death and could not make it.

It also said that you are only allowed 3 adults per site and every person after that is an extra 5 bucks
PER NITE !!!
Plus the rates also went up for 2005 !!!

This would be a good time for the owner to plant some tree and lay down some sod (not seed) at the Oasis.

Like you guys said it will be interesting to see what happen this year

 

The best thing ever was Mean Gene and **** Shirley going, but the prices are over the top with the new owners.
I love the facility at Sand Hells, but the owners and location always made it too much to swallow. Now its the prices and the location.
I like Oasis, and I like supporting AuraLee, because soon enough it will have grass and trees.
I will be there on Mem Day and July4th.
