Default V-paddles?

I had Stars on my 04 Predator, and will run the same set on my 06 when I get it. I havent run anything else so hard for to compare, but I was happy with them, thought they performed well. By the way, what year/model Pred do you have. Interested in how the close ratio gear box performs in the sand. Some say great, others dont like it.

Don't rule out the AMS Sidewinder. Cheaper than the Sand Star and about 1 lb lighter per tire.

Oh, i really like the close ratio gears. The 4th to 5th thing isnt that huge, people make it sound worse than it is. and if you really dont like it, a pipe and CDI takes it all away from what i hear. those are my mods to come.

The Sandstars are good tires for the money, fairly light weight and good traction. You'll get beat hill racing by the guys with Skat Track Hauler straight cut on tire alone. But if that's the most important thing get straight ones. The v cuts won't throw as much sand as the straight cut so the guys behind you won't be eating it so bad. The moulded tires like Sand Star or Skate II's last a long time, I've had a set of Skate II's since 1991 and they are still going strong and aren't all ripped up like some tires I see....I just stay out of the rocks etc.

I run Kenda Sand Gecko's and I can climb and surf just as fast as my buddy with a 700 Raptor with Haulers. I have never run straights on my pred but with the way it handles now I dont plan to switch.

Most Raptor's I've ridden with haven't had much luck with gecko's, not enough bite. I probably should take the Sand Stars off my wifes V Force, see how they fair on the 700R.
