Default Ltr450 & sand

Hey to all. I just signed up on the sight to pick your brains. I need a sport quad. After 10 years on a 1995 suzuki LT250 utility quad i need a fun ride. I need something for beach dunes and all-terrain ripping. I really like the 06 suzuki Ltr450, but it's a race ride. Just wondering how it would do off the track. The Z400 also caught my eye as well. I can get a brand new 2005 model honda 400EX for around $4900.00 from the local dealer, and they also mentioned the Yamaha wolverine with 2wd & 4wd might be a good option. FYI i am 5'6" 150lbs 40 years old in june. Any suggestions would sure be appreciated. Thanks

I just purchased a yamaha raptor 700R 2006. Give that a look see. I sure like it. It's very responsive, great suspension, plenty of torque, and is good for GNCC under Bill Balance. I wiegh 200 and it halls me just fine. I'm going on 56 and keep up with my grandchildren on yfz450's. Heading for Sand Mountain, Utah for memorial day. I loved it ther easter holiday and was with about 45 differnt ATV's in our camp. Came home after that trip and ordered my Raptor. I bought two of them and gave one to one of my sons. We love it. Give it a consideration. Good luck.

If you've been on that 250 utility for all this time, most any of the new sport quads are going to be heaven for you. The 400EX actually is still a great quad and overall good value, and will fit your size well. The Raptor 700 might feel a touch big under you, but then my wife at 5' 4" does ride a Raptor 660. I'm not sold on the LTR450 at this point. The new YFZ450 is a real good choice too, they have worked out the bugs and the ride is better, seat more comfy, and the power is beyond wonderful.

We also own a Z400, and if I'm not in the big dunes where I need the most power, it always is the one I jump on to take a spin out of our 4 quads. It is about the best balanced package out there with reverse, water cooled, great handling and comfort. Just doesn't have the huge 450 race-class power but does run very well with pipe and airbox/jetting.

I am 6' and 45 years old, my favorite is my YFZ but I want one each of everything out there and there are many good ones to choose from. Happy shopping!!
