Default Took The 700 Griz to Armagosa

I took my Yamaha 07 700 Grizzly to Armagosa this past weekend and was a little disappointed that I could not make it up the big hill. Would paddles help? Can you get paddles for it and if so should I go with rears or front and rears?????

Armagosa is a lot better with paddles. It's ok if you get there earily in the morning and ride with stock tires, but after a few runs the sand tend's to get real soft and you start to booge down. Where you able to get back out of the toilet bowl on the back side of the dune's? Or did you go that far back?

I was able to go everywhere but the big hill from the front side. I could climb all of the other hills with no problem, but could only make it about 80% of the way up the front hill before having to turn around.

No, I believe I had 5 LBS in them.

Amargosa Dunes, Nevada

Name: Amargosa Dunes aka Big Dune
Location:
Southwestern Nevada, 100 miles northwest of Las Vegas on Highway 95

Description:
Amargosa or Big Dune is a playground that covers about five square miles of dunes and dips, and its centerpiece is a peak that tops out at 500 feet. These hills, about 100 miles northwest of Las Vegas, are a well-kept secret and mostly used by locals, but expect to find plenty of other off-roaders on the weekends. Remember to pack plenty of water and food. Amargosa Valley is 29 miles south of Beatty on U.S. 95.

Big Dune is a unique place in southern Nevada. It is 1.5 square mile complex star dune that reaches 2,731 feet above sea level.

Base Elevation - 2435 ft.

Directions to Amargosa:
The dunes are located north of Amargosa Valley, south of Beatty and just off of Highway 95.

Did you run it in 4 wheel drive? Like has been said, the key to duning a Ute on big sand is aired down tires but also definitely in 4wd. We run a Brute Force 750 up Sand Mountain Utah sometimes and it climbs all the way up the beast no problem with the aired down tires and 4wd.
