Which paddles
#1
I have a blaster and a fourtrax 250r. I want to get paddles for my blaster. I dont want something that will suck all of the power out of my blaster but I want some gnarly ones for my fourtrax. which kind do you suggest. I dont want some straight ones because I want to turn.

In spite of the popular press, V-paddles don't turn all that well either. The simple fact is that with a solid axle, any tire that hooks up as well as paddles do are going to shoot the quad forward when you're on the gas. My Blaster has 20x10x10 7-paddle Haulers (straights) on 8x10 3+5 Douglas .125 and 21x7x10 Mohawks on 5x10 2+3 Douglas .125. They are great, maneuverable, and climb well. Go with the offset for stability.
Sand Skate II's are the hot ticket for powerful quads (deep V's) or GBC's copy. GBC's copy is taller, not as wide though, and stiffer. Go with the 8x10 3+5 .125 rims, unless you're into big air, then maybe the .160's. Razorbacks or Dune Trackers on the front make turning (see above) easier (even with the V's). Get 6x10 2+4 .125 Douglas. The 2+4 increases the front end width 4-inches for free. Wind Mountain in Utah will set you up for the best price.

If the Blasters stock, I'd get a tire with lower paddle heights like a Dune Slider. I run this type on my daughters stock Blaster and they seem to work fine. Not to agressive and still allow some tire spin. On the Fortrax you can put a more aggressive type paddle tire on it. I run the Skate II's and the GBC Sand Sharks on and I prefer the Sand Skate II's. Reason is as someone posted the Sand Sharks are stiffer & narrower which makes for a rougher ride. The one positive point for them though is cost. Their almost half the price of the Sand Skate II's (aprox) $44.00 vs $80.00. Another 2 cents.....

Run a 7 paddle glider in the rear and if you want dune tires for the front use mohawks...

I friend of mine's son runs the Dune Slider on his Blaster. They work great too. They are a 21-inch diameter though which increases the gearing. Not normally a good thing for sand, but a lighter rider won't know the difference. My son runs the Haulers because he like to throw roost and those babies roost! A shorter paddle like a Glider might work well also, but you'll want more than 7. BTW, my son doesn't have trouble spinning his 7-paddle Haulers, so I don't think they're too much tire.

A good cheap paddle that I reccomend is GBC sand Devils. They're not the "glues on" type, like skat traks, so they hold up well. If you do want a V-shape, GBC sand Sharks are good too. I ran the sand devils on my Blaster when i had it, now i have a pair on the LT and the warrior.

I would suggest going to an 8 inch rim. The paddles will flatten out at low speed giving you better floatation and they increase in height with speed. If you are not driving in sand that has a lot on debris in it, I would suggest Skat-Traks. They are a lot lighter.
