I just purchased a new 400EX and am looking at getting some new paddels for it. I am currently using my old paddles off my 250x that are a v cut style, my brother in law purchased Skat track haulers for his.. I guess what my question is "What is the best paddle tire for climbing at the dunes" dont need trail riding and things like that just the best for climbing..money no object. Thanks in advance for any help you guys give

I run 9 paddle Skat-Trak Haulers on the Raptor and they HOOK UP. They climb awesone, but are too great when it comes to turning. I run 20x10x8 on .125 rims for light weight. I also used these on the Warrior, and you can climb anything you have the power for. Have you ridden your brother in laws with the Haulers yet to check the turning ability? On the Raptor the low end torque pulls the front end up just enough to unload the tires (Skat-Trak Mohawks), and the front end pushes wide. We're going to Silver Lake this weekend and I'm going to try running the stock front Dunlop radials and see if that helps. Assuming we can ride; weather is calling for rain mixed with snow, high of 39 degrees.

This is all general info since I don't own a 400EX.

Haulers will be your best climbers. V-Paddles help turning, but reduce the forward push somewhat. The weight savings of the Haulers over a cast paddle like Sand Skates is beneficial. Using 8" vs. a 10" rim size causes the tires to grow in height more at speed, which is helpful.

The more power you have, the more paddles you can turn without bogging the machine.

An eight inch wheel will be lighter then a ten and you shouldn't run anything more then an eight paddle. Only stroked shee's or zilla's should even think about a ten paddle. Ten paddle is to much for any fourstroke.

Hey bringer did you get my E mail for my flyer ??
As for your paddles I would not go any more than 8 paddle haulers (in fact I think rocky mtn has a 7 paddle-mo better). Haulers are a LOT of paddle for four strokers (my stock raptor can not break loose 8 paddle haulers). My built R ran 8 paddle haulers and they were perfect so try the 7's(20x10x10) I think they would work best at Oregon. but haulers do hook up !! Any way thats my $0.02
Thanks for the help with the flyers !!!!!

Yes I did...and thanks for all the good advice.

Here is something interesting, went to the dunes last thursday and friday. Me and my brother in law raced, I won all 3 times.. switched bikes and I still won on the holeshot and for the most part but he was catching me. I run v-cut skaters and he runs haulers... both bikes stock right now but its interesting the speed difference... and it is noticable not just a little bit.
