Went to the Cinders this weekend, Awesome!

Cinders will be closed Friday June 28th at 8am - this is directly from the FS field office in Flag.

As of right now, there are no public lands open to riding in AZ except along the western state border along the Colorado river.
All State, BLM and Forest service land is now closed to public access with the exception of Mohave and Yuma counties.
this is not good - I don't even know of any private land within 100 miles of Metro Phx to ride on.
If your in Az - there is just about no trail riding at all.
some good AZ links

I was there three weeks ago, there were quads all over the place. Mostly on the streets. There were some sandy areas that every one seemed to be heading to but it didn't look that big. I know that you cant ride on the beach any more, but you can go bar hopping! Just dont ride crazy or the federalies will nab you. It was awsome except for the mosquitos and the stingrays

there are several good web sites to give you info on rocky point/peurto penasco.
its about a 4.5 to 5 hour drive from phoenix area. only having been there once you can probably get better info from the web sites than from me. i can tell you that it is quite hot there now (high 90's)and it is not the best time of year to go. remember shrimp are only in season in months that have a "r" in it, so september is when it starts to get better.
definatly worth the trip though!

I don't know how familiar you are with Arizona weather but the Sand dunes right now are really hot. Im talking 107 degree days and 98 degree nights. Its not dune season at this time. most people from Phoenix usually try to head North to flagstaff where its cool.
you should try to head up to the cinders with the guys from this forum. just my 2 cents.
