Hey I am looking to buy a pair of Sand Skate II's or Gecko's for my 400ex. I want to get them on new Douglas rims like .160 or .190. I am a big guy; I weigh about 230lbs. The bike is stock except for a FMF pipe. What would be the ideal tire are wheel size for me?

havinnoj, if you can get away this Saturday and go to Sand Lake, I'll let you take my 400EX for a spin with the Gecko paddles on it. I really like them. I also see alot of guys riding with the 8-paddle skat trak haulers. I drag raced a guy that weighed at least 40 lbs less than me (him skinny...me not so skinny), and I pulled away from him no problem. We both had slip-on pipes, K&N filters, and jet kits, only difference was my Gecko's and his Haulers. The Gecko's turn really well. I will have Dune Trakker front tires this coming weekend (if UPS shows up on time). I put mine on Douglas .125 Blue Label wheels. I'm not going to be getting huge air, so they will be okay. I weigh 215, and they haven't bent yet. To be safe, I guess you could do a $10 upgrade and get the .160 rims. I really don't think that the .190's are necessary. The place I've been ordering my tires from is recreationtires.com. They are cheap, and deliver to Oregon in 3 business days.

My son has a blaster with gecko's and they really work well at the Oregon dunes. I think they would make a great paddle for everything except for healthy banshee or 250, or very built raptor or 400ex.
I got my sons from rec. unlimeted too they were prompt and about the same price as sand sharks.Good Luck !!!

Hey, I know a guy (in Oregon) that's selling some Sand Shark Rear tires, and Shark Fin front tires for $80. They aren't on wheels, but $80 for 4 hardly used tires is a great price. You can pick up new rims for really cheap...in fact, I know another guy who's got some 10" Douglas rims for sale. He just switched from a 400EX to a Raptor, so he had to get wheels with a different hole pattern. If interested, let me know via email or private message, and I'll get you more information.
