another st. anthony question

Has anyone heard of desert oasis campground.
The sandhill resort is full for the weekend of the 21st, so we are looking at alternatives. The lady at the resort said that there is another campground called desert oasis, and I guess there is a trail from there to the dunes.
If anyone knows what I am talking about please give me some info.
Thanks
Bat

<< Thanks SandGod. Sounds like it should have been named "The Last Resort" instead of Desert Oasis. >>
LOL.
I am waiting to go until the time is right. It is just not in the cards yet. I am going to try a weekend in July. But I am heading to killpecker dunes this weekend, well at least saturday. Then going to coral pink for about 5-6 days July 20-?.
So, I am not sure what weekend will work yet. I think I am going to be sure and get a space at the resort for the first trip. Especially since the blm area is pretty much closed up.
Then maybe next time I will rough it a little more. Anyone going any weekend in early July?

Hey, Bat you need to come on out to Walden sometime. Not so much for the huge challenging dunes (cough, cough, chuckle, chuckle) but to check out something different. We have actual trees here. Of course with no rain hardley it's probably not as lush as it could be but it's something different. I'll be there Saturday and waiting for you. There are some worthwhile trails too. Something to think about - new experience.
From Rock Springs it should be about 3.5 hours tops. It's about 50 minutes south of Laramie. Laramie is about 200 miles from Rock Springs which is less than 3 hours.

I would love to come down to walden, but this weekend is out. Too many previous family engagements.
Are there camping areas, or do you just go for the day?
It looks like about 3-3.5 hours if I go through Rawlins.
Not too bad. What are the temps like down there?
Maybe early July or something?

Bat,
There is plenty of camping spots. Basically, you just pull in and park and poof! you are camping. It's not very organized. There are a lot of trees through the camping areas which is nice but since it's been so dry they may be a little thin. There is a male/female toilet but nothing else at all. I'm sure that fire restrictions are on now.
I usually just go for the day but I camp as well sometimes. It's less than a 2 hour drive from Cheyenne. Easiest way is to shoot down I-80 and go south at Laramie. It gets pretty warm in July/August; probably close to 90 at times. The bummer about late June/Early July is the mosquitos and other bugs. The rest of the time they are not a problem.
It's worth visiting if you want to try something new. Nothing great but still fune for a day or 2 plust the trails are a bonus.
Let me know if you get the urge to come down and I'll do my best to meet up with you.
