We had a kind of disapointing Pismo trip last weekend. Obviously, they had not had any strong winds in a while, and the place was REAL ROUGH. Plus, the dune crests where rounded off, so it was more like just a bunch of lame sand hills rather than dunes. If I had it to do over again, I would have gone to Mammoth instead or something. Anyway, if you are planning a trip, I would call and see if they have had some strong winds. Otherwise, you might just want to put it off for a while!!

WYGUY:

That's how it pretty much was over the 4th weekend. Your right It's not a lot of fun when the dunes are in that condition. When there all cut-up like that you gotta kinda more at a good clip on the flats as at low speeds it will beat the pi$$ out of ya. Overall, I don't think the winds have been that strong this year when compared to last year. On my last 3-4 trips this year, the dunes have seemed kind of rounded & torn-up. But, for me even rounded and torn dunes are better than sitting at home. Our group will be going down there over the or Labor Day weekend. I hope the winds kick-up between now and then to re-shape the dunes.

Well, maybe I can send you some WIND from Oklahoma.

The damn wind has been blowing 30 MPH(average) for a week.

The nights however have been down right PERFECT!
