Need a dune machine
#1
We go riding every other weekend at the albany sand dunes...and i drive my friends lightly modded 300ex. But its getting close to time to get my own wheeler, and i want to get a good dune machine, with more power and acceleration then the 300...any suggestions?

The BanShee ruled for a long time but many bikes that are 4 stroke are starting to rule ie raptors, ds , z, kfx, dales, 400exs.
but there is only one bike made for sand the Glamis... the name says it all. The highest reving 4 stroke out.

i say you still can't beat the 2 stroke power in the dunes or the mod potential

go with a raptor, z400, cdale or even a bomber. if your a talll and big guy youll love the bomb. i like the raptor power but do not like the ride. i love my z400 and with a 440 kit ill have more power than i need. banshees are great but i they arent that reliable compared to a 4-stroke. they dont handle or jump as well either. i dont care what anyone says a 2 stoke breaks alot more than a 4-stroke just about even i know has shee's and they take care of them but something always breaks or they are working on them. but the 2-stroke hit is great hehe.

You didn't really define your years of riding/experience, age, weight and height. Stepping up from a 300EX...... with minimal experience, I'd say pick up used 400EX. Good handling decent power and reasonable price. If you want to spend less money, you can get a Warrior. It has less power than a 400EX and doesn't handle quite as nice, but still a decent ATV. Now if If you have access to more money any one of the 4 strokes previously mentioned will work nicely. Also IF your not mechanicaly inclined a 4 stroke is more bullet proof or finicky. Don't be afraid of a Banshee if you can get one as there a blast and right at home in the dunes. I have a Banshee and a Raptor and ride either depending on my mood. If I want relaxing mellow ride I take the Raptor out. While if I'm in the mood for bursts of speed and excitement I ride the Banshee. If the Banshee is maintained it's a reliable machine. My motors a 1989 and it has only needed the top end rebuilt once. I've had no other real pronblems with it. If you have the skill and want a thrill ride get a Banshee.
