Places to ride in St.George & Mesquite??
A few of us are thinking about going south in mid February for a couple of days to ride. I wondered if anyone knows where the best places are to ride in the St.George UT / Mesquite NV area? I understand there are several small dunes in this area but the people that I got my info from are bike riders and they ride in areas that they say the quads wont get through easily, i.e. narrow washed. They don’t like the dunes they say are there? Any information you can pass along would be greatly appreciated.

Coral Pink would be your best bet from St. George. Sand is real soft unless it has just rained. The dunes in Vegas are called Nellis Dunes, not worth your time unless you live here, hardly worth the 20 minute ride from my house, small and don't need paddles. If you are coming that far, go to Dumont, less than 2 hours from Vegas.

I have heard of some dunes called the huricane dunes, I think they are around that area, but I dont know anything more then that about them.
I liked coral pink,it was alot of fun. That would be my choice if in that area.
But, I think it gets cold there in winter. I would reccommend dumont also if you are coming that far anyway. Also, you could hit Little sahara utah on your way further south. If this is a riding trip, plan to go to dumont.

Hi Sandrider!! There are some small dunes near Huricane Utah to the south of town. I live in Kanab about 15 miles from Corel Pink our weather has been mild low 60's day nights in the 30's, but I don't know about it in Feb. usuly not real cold. hopeful wet though. Sand is still wet. it is a interesting place to ride not only on the dunes but the surrounding area. dunes are not real big. Blm and Park Service have camping in the area. Need helmits for under 18 and flags on bikes.

I really havn't ever gone to the dunes before as you can see by my signature that I am a big bore kind of guy. However, I am going to some dunes next week just west of Nephi, UT called "little Sahara". The guys that invited me have sport quads and go down there often. They said that it is a little remote (like an hour in a half from slc.) but it is really good riding. Lots of open dunes aswell as steep dune climbing. I am looking forward to it!
Hope this helps.
