I need to know the difference between Sand Skate 1 and Sand Skate 2 sand tires. A guy is selling Sand Skate 1, and I don't know how it is different from the 2. Sand Tire Unlimited web site has no info.
Thank you

Sand Skate I is the first generation molded paddle tire from STU and comes from the factory with I think 16 paddles on it. The Sand Skate II is the second generation and only comes with 8 paddles. I also believe the Skate I is a 21 or 22 inch tall tire where the Skate II is a 20 inch. Hope that helps

I thought the SS1's were 8 paddle 'V' shaped but the paddles were not as tall as the SS2's. The SS1's are much lighter!
I think DunePilot is thinking of maybe Desert Mini Tracks?

Thanks for the picture, however, what I need to know is how are they different than the SS2. The web site does not explain how they differ? Examples: lighter/heavier, taller/shorter paddles, different material, more/less (cost), etc.

the ss1's are lighter. teh ss2 is molded into 8 paddle whereas the ss1 is molded with a plethora of paddles and ridges and is then grooved to eitehr a left side or right side paddle. im not sure of teh costs of the tire but for the ss1 usually you buy the tire and then pay for teh shop to groove them which can be pretty costly.. almost $100 per tire. as far as paddle hietghth i odnt have exact numbers but ive talked to a few people who run the ss2's and say that they tend to bog them down a little.

Both are a molded paddle! The SS1 is the first Gen, V-blade tire that works well with a lower power machine... The SS2 is a higher cost, but more rigid constructed tire that has much better bite and control...

IMHO.... SS2 is the only one worth buying... (Out of these two being discussed here) I've had both, and the SS1s are junk... unless you are running them on a blaster or 4 stroke quad... but again, that's just my little 'ole opinion...
