No driinking or even posessing alcohol in oregon dunes WTF
The big problem is that people can't have fun anymore unless they have booze in their system!!! Its so damn true, its sick. I just don't understand the need to get drunk, the only reason people get drunk is to forget their problems, deal with them. Yah yah, I'm against booze and cigarettes, they should be banned everywhere!!!

Banning alcohol on the dunes will not break my heart.
Might save a few lives and broken bones though.
You are never braver, nor more stupid than when riding while drunk.
You also make a bigger a$$ of yourself!

Got this e-mail today from the Reedsport Chamber of Commerce:
"Hello Dune-Festers:
Yes, the rumor is a fact - there will no alcohol on the Dunes for this event - there will be designated areas to "party" but not on the dunes or during the events themselves -
The permit phase is about completed and it is looking good for the event on July 31 - Aug 1-2-3
The US Forest Service has put the "kybosh" on the alcohol thing - and the reason is mainly under-age drinking, nudity, and fights - which we had last year -
It will still be a fun time - you'll just have to decide:
a. Are you coming to drink only?
b. are you coming to ride and compete?
c. Is there a balance for both?
We, the Chamber, believe that there is a balance and it will be a different kind of event - but a good one, none the less -
there will be shuttles to the local watering holes and you can drink on the pavement areas and campgrounds.
It is a hazard to be under the influence and out on the busy dunes -
So, I will keep you informed on the finalization of the event - I am interested to hear you r feelings on this so please e-mail me with your opinions. I thank all of you for your patience.
Regards,
Lynda Kristoffersen"

well this new law does not bother me but being down there on those big weekends, I really don't think that they will be able to stop the drinking and possessing alchohol on the sand dunes. And what's the big problem with people showing off there ****. Oh well this is not going to bother me, but I really think it will be harder for them to enforce then what they think!

it probably isn't as bad as it sounds i think you won't find many on here that think you should be out in the dunes drinking and riding, i've been out there and it does get very messy with the beer cans and bottles, so a planned drinking area would be a good thing.and when the end of the ride day comes i've never seen a ranger come to the camps, i could be wrong but it seems that would be hard to control.
