one thing is go to Yahoo map and it will tell you how far it is. also for camping spot go to Yamaha forum and peoples will tell you where to camp and let them know when you think you will be there. so that way peoples might meet you there and show you the area..... Good luck
also I was there for FSW and have somewhat fun due to my bike tranny blew up on the first day there... I will be going back there again......

Glamis is great, but I would guess that st. anthony and little sahara utah are both much closer. I am just guessing, but mapquest or something similar can get you the mileage.
For little sahara, I would put in nephi utah and then add about 40 miles or so, and for st. anthony put in rexburg idaho.
These are both great places to ride.

I agree with Batouttahell, sure Glamis is the mecca of duning but the BEST duning is in Idaho and Utah in my opinion. Plus they are probably MUCH closer - at least 700 miles closer. Also, If you want to go during the late spring to early autum it may be too hot at Glamis.

I would suggest going to St Anythony Idaho. It would be much closer than glamis and depending on when you go it would be much cooler temp.

If you haven't been to Glamis, go to Glamis. When you get there, ride it for a few days, preferably over a busy weekend to get the full effect. Go to Comp, Olds, the drags and get a beer at Boardmanville. Leave yourself a few days to pack up and go to the south end of the dunes. You can camp at Buttercup or Gordon's Well. Buttercup has in my opinion the best dunes. The peaks are predictable for smooth transitions from one side of the dune to the next and there are very few witches eyes there. A good rule of thumb for riding in acceptable temps is Haloween to Easter. Check the weatherchannel.com and look up Yuma, AZ and/or Brawley, CA for average temps. Lastly, Don't think that because it's the desert it doesn't get cold or rain [at night]. It gets down to freezing from time 2 time. I know you're from Minn and all but I'm from Chicago originally and almost froze to death my first trip out thanks to my buddies $10 sleeping bag.
