Okay, I am possibly going to be taking my quads (see sig.) to Rocky Point this month, and I am wondering about tires...some places paddles are needed, but then when running around town on the road reg. tires are fine...

My gf's stepfather has some tires for his sandrail, but I dont know how to explain them...they have paddles, but also have a solid block around the tire in the middle to ride on when not in sand soo the paddles dont get chewed up. I have seen these fore quads also, but I cannot find anyplace that carries them...

What are some other options for tires? I have been in sand without paddles and that sucks! TIA!

i'd call skat-trak, i've seen those ones with the tread in the middle.

Skat-Track http://www.skat-trak.com/paddletire.html Make a paddel called the Hawk, this may be what your looking for. These paddels have a knobby design down the middle to help protect the paddels on hard pack. I have allso seen a paddel with a solid rib down the center but I'm not shure who made them.

 

I did a search for the paddels with the solid center rib's and the ones I was thinking of are Desert Traks by Sand Tires Unlimited. Here is there site http://www.sandtiresunlimited.com/sandtire1.html#2212

 

They are busting people for riding on the streets in Rocky Point. You can cruise around Cholla Bay and the Reef but once you hit asphault they will be looking to get ya. You might be able to get away with it if it were a big weekend.

We were there a weekend before Spring Break, we were talking to some peeps at JJ's and thats what they told us. We saw a lot of people at Comp hill but no one on the streets like there used to be. They didn't give a reason and we didn't ask.

Hey Nobody, thanks for the link!! I just now checked the board and saw it. I ended up doing a search yesterday for Sand Tires Unlimited after I got the brite idea of actually seeing what kind of tires they were on the rail...duh[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

Man I hope we dont have any problems, because my gf's lil brother and sister ride their quads when all of us go out...I have never been down there on a quad, just in a rail which I actually like better, but I sold mine, and I havent been able to find any others that I like and now we are leaving end of next week to go down! I got some to look at this weekend in Phx...and I would much rather have a rail than my quads down there.

If anybody is going the weekend of the 18th-21st (Fri-Mon) hit me up! We are staying at the Playa Bonita RV resort...
