There's a very good chance they could of saved him if they had been wearing them.
IMO snowmobiling without one is dumber than riding an ATV and not wearing a helmet.

Where did this happen? Just curious. Looks like the area around Big John Flat to me. Glad they were able to get most of them alive. I've thought about those beacons. It's getting to the point price-wise that it might be a good purchase for when I take a solo ride in Northern Maine.

Snowmobiling without a beacon is dumber than riding an ATV and not wearing a helmet.
It was closer to LeBaron Reservoir.
I'm not a snowmobiler and have never had any interest in owning one. I've ridden them and they are a blast but............
Getting one stuck sucks and being stranded somewhere in the middle of the winter isn't too appealing to me either.

I don't think anyone I know owns a beacon but they probably don't ride in areas prone to avalanches. If I snowmobiled anywhere there are mountains I would get one. About 3/4 of the people who die in avalanches suffocate. They just need to be found and dug out in time.
