Default Which used ATV to buy????

I am looking to upgrade my kids ATV. He currently has a Honda Recon 250 that is only 2 wheel drive and a shifter. I would like to get him something between a 300cc and 400cc bike that has 4x4 and maybe automatic. So far I like the Yamaha Bruin, Kawasaki Prairie, and the Honda Fourman or Rancher. I would love to hear some feedback on these ATV's. Thanks

You might want to check out the Suzuki KingQuad 400AS.
4wd, auto, "winch ready", speedometer/odometer, tried and true reliability.
Simplicity of an air/oil cooled, non-fuel injected, engine. Lots of aftermarket support & accessories.
The KQ400 is essentially an '02-'07 Eiger, but with the King Quad bodywork starting in 2008.
NOTE-I "might" be a little biased.

You can not go wrong with any of your choices, but the Foreman has a full size chassis/frame like any big bore Utility ATV but with a smaller motor.

Its hard to tell a 680 Rincon from a Foreman when there parked side by side. Might be a little large for a kid. Your other choices are mid size frames.

I almost bought a recon today but decided to do some research on all the brands. I think they are all good, lots of crazy comments from people on youtube (lot of insults and not much info).

All the 2wd 250 utilities are good, there just to simple to be unreliable. A person would be hard press to tell the difference between a 1986 Yamaha Moto4 or Yamaha,s newest 2009 2wd 250 if you rode the two.

Along with my 700 Griz I also have a 450 Griz and it is an awesome quad. I recommend it highly. It is alot cheaper than a 700 and it is a little horse. Follows my 700 anywhere, and sometimes leads due to its tighter turning radius and lower stance. You can buy them for around 5K.

I need to go check those out, we have a huge yamaha and suzuki dealer here and they always have models to test drive...I'm not done looking. All the guys on youtube say the polaris breaks down allot, if this is true that sucks cause I wanted that new 500 xp badly in fact I almost left the shop with one!

How are the prices for the XP550 were you are? Up here they cost as much as a KQ 750 and $2000 more than the new 550 Artic Cat so it would not be one of my choices.
