New rider parents please note
The following is an excerpt on a 10 year old who was pushing a running 350 and trying to turn it around. Where were the parents? Unfortunately, with the youth ban, we are going to see more of this. Parental responsibility please. I belive some bad habits could be solved if they had basic training courses.
NEWFIELD, Maine -- A 10-year-old boy suffered a broken leg while he was trying to push an ATV on his parents' property in Newfield Monday afternoon.
The boy was trying to turn the Honda 350 ATV in a driveway on Chellis Road when a wheel went over his left leg, breaking it below the knee, said Warden John Lonergan of the Maine Warden Service. The ATV was running at the time.
Newfield Rescue took him to Goodall Hospital in Sanford after the incident was reported before 5 p.m. Monday.
Lonergan said the incident is still under investigation, but did not anticipate any charges.
He recommended that young ATV riders take an ATV safety course. Most ATV clubs in the state offer them. The boy who was injured had not taken one, Lonergan said.
