How do you like your Thumb Throttle???

My wife rode dirt bikes for about 20 years before she got a quad...After a few rides she said the thumb throttle hurt her hand... I put a twist throttle on it and she likes it much better..

unless my warrior has an aftermarket thumb throttle(which i doubt it does) its never been that hard to twist mine, granted i have stronger hands than most, i've never thought twice about how hard it is to push the thumb trigger on mine, and i go out riding for 5-6 hours or more when i do go out riding.......i've ridden a few quads with twist throttles, and I don't recomend them to someone who's never used one before unless your going to take the time to get used to moving your body in a different way....because you'll need to keep your wrist at that angle, where-as its easier IMHO to keep your thumb at the right angle then your whole hand.

Still kind of getting used to the thumb throttle. I read this thread earlier, and when I was out riding it dawnwed on me at one point that, as I was up on the pegs going through a short washboard strech I was leaning back just a little too much. The thumb kept me on the quad. I would have no doubt accidentaly accelerated through there. I thought I would hate it. I'm all thumbs now that I get the point.

The 450R throttle will solve your problems. I ran my YFZ for years with an aftermarket throttle lever and that helped A LOT. My brother put a YFZ 450R throttle lever on his and that also helps a bit. The Honda assembly just has a better leverage ratio though. Combine that with the spring work in the carb and you will be in heaven. Just do me one favor, get an aftermarket cover so it isn't so obvious you have Honda parts infecting your machine, lol.

I have had thumb throttles freeze open in the winter as well...

I Use to try to ride my dirt bikes in the winter, the twist throttle freeze stuck way to easy, you never see them on sleds for the same reason. There,s ATVs ridden around here all winter, they would be useless with a twist throttle.
Thumb throttles work summer and in snowy freezing cold winters, so ATV manufacturers use them to cover all the bases.
I,d love to try a twist throttle on my sled ,but it just will not work on that frosty cold morning start up,guaranteed.
