Which Wheels and tires???
#1
OK, So I got feed back from you guys on what the + and - is over different tires. I would like to change the wheels and tires on both mine and my wifes machines. I have a 550 grizzly and she has a 500 King quad. 95% of what we ride is rock and dirt trail riding. There is mud on the trails but not very deep and few and far between. For that reason I want something designed for a good stable ride on trails that also happens to do OK in mud and snow. Again, trail comfort is most important. I have read that on the Grizzly I should get an offset wheel to help with stability. Is this the case? and if so do I need wheel spacers. One last note- I will probably stick with stock size or maybe go to 26's as I do not want to get involved with a clutch kit etc.etc. Please give me your wheel and tire recommendations if you have any. Thanks all! I appreciate the help!

I replaced the Innova Mud gears with the Duro Power grip and they are probalbly one of the best tires I have ever ran. Very smooth!!!

I got ITP 589's 27". they are very very good in the mud and throw alot of mud off the tires. They also are 6 ply and are very strong, I have yet to get a flat with them. With my stock tires, I managed to get 3 flats within 6 months after the purchase of my brand new kodiak 450 back in 2007. The stock tires are garbage and unreliable. I also bought ITP aluminum wheels too. I did the offset thing, but ITP's 589's rear is too wide imo. I get mud all over me from the tires throwing the mud all over the place. I plan on eventially getting two more tires which are the same size and width of the front, which also are wider then the stocks, but will not stick out like the rears do.
I did a Moose clutch kit over the summer and it truly made a difference too! I really noticed the gain in torque when going through mud holes and my 450 has more torque power when taking off.
