Default Tell me about your communication setups....

My story. My and my son ride along with my girlfriend often on street bikes. The configuration is

me and son on one motorcycle
girlfriend on another

I also go riding with him on the trails on atvs.....and occasionally her as well.

I would really like some type of comm system so we can all talk....and I would like to find one that would work on both the quads and the cycles.

Whats your system, how does it work and how do you like it?

Thanks

Default Communications devices

We have a couple of 5 mil walkie talkies. We bought a earpiece that has a little bud on the wife to talk into. The micophone sets just below your chin. Push the button and talk. Works great. Hard to talk when you are on really difficult trails. But otherwise it works great. Not sure how well it would work on a motor cycle. I would hate to be in traffic and try to talk to someone with only one hand on the bars. Might end up fatal if you know what I mean.

I cant believe someone doesnt make a cheap system to use with Walkie talkies. The work great and if you could get a button to put on the bars to push and talk that would be awesome.

Actually Midland makes specific motorcycle helmet headsets.....with VOX support. Seems like a setup with 4 radios and to outfit the helmets I have would run a little over $200......not bad.

We need something on the market, that we dont have to sell our arms and legs for. I would pay around 50 bucks. We just use hand signals.

Default Scala Rider

We purchased the scala rider Q2...you can connect up to three at a time...mounts on the side of your helmet and works on bluetooth....just start talking and the other person hears you...you can also connect your phone with it to override the communication with the other person...got the scala rider for $100.00 a person...watch for them on sale...usually 200 a person..waterproof and quite a good range...
