Default Shovel off your roofs you folks down south!

Hi all. I just remembered something that I know to do as a New Englander when you have a bad winter. If it gets over 2-3' deep shovel it off! The weight of snow is incredible when you get into several feet of snow and it can collapse roofs. I'm used to doing it with the few years when we get that much snow accumulated, but folks south of me might not be. It's worth the time. Also, if you get ice dams on the edge of your roof, water can back up into your house. Clear off the bottom 3' of snow and put some rock salt on them to help them melt. Hope this helps some of our buddies who aren't used to the abuse of winter.

It's really coming down right now here in Dallas. Definitely not something we're used to seeing.

I guess all the stories my wife has heard me tell about growing up in a colder climate has sunken in. She went to the store, and while she was there bought me a 12 pack and put it out in the snow on the patio.

I'll bet she wished I listened that well.

I've become a little more accustomed to my drink being frozen and not the ground.

It will be gone by Monday. LOL

I grew up in El Paso, TX. And when it snowed it was melted the next day.

The worst thing up here is when there is a foot or more of snow on the ground and then getting a big rainstorm. The melt plus the rain means the sump pump will be going for awhile. Next house will be at the TOP of a hill.

9 1/2" total at our house. Still here today, and from the sounds of it, we're possibly getting more Sunday.

Now, whoever moved the equator, would you please return it to it's original position.
