Default "My 1st Rookie Mistake!...HELP!!!"...

Well today I picked up my predator 500...been driving it for about a hour...things went fine...put it in the garage...was still excitied and was looking around seeing what things do...didn't know the **** I pulled out was the Choke...well I pulled that out and forgot to push it back in because I didn't see nothing that happened...it was on the handle bars so I figured it went to the lights or a horn or something...but anyway...I parked it...came back a hour later...rode it for about 15 minutes and then it keep stalling out...been tryin to start it for like 1 hour...and I called the dealer I bought it from...they said it might be the spark plug or the engine got flooded and to let it sit...a dirtbike guy that pulled up seeing me basicly stuck said I should let it sit for a while too...but what yall think?...it's in my garage sittin til tomorrow and ima try again...

I would let it sit as advised...but i'd also check the plug and make sure it's not fouled or fuel soaked.

It needs a NGK type of plug...walmart didn't have it...so...where could I get one cheap to try and change it myself after I let it sit?...I guess changin the plug couldn't hurt it...but i'm told it's in the top covered up by the side plastics...so...

Try your local auto parts store for plugs. I can get ngk for both my quads at an autozone for just a few bucks.

My money is on a fouled plug....I would change it just to be safe. NGK plugs should be found easily at your auto parts place. Honestly, I wouldnt put anything back in but an NGK.....if they dont have one then wait and get one elsewhere. While your there buy spares. Thats one thing I keep on hand for most all my ATVs and bikes.....spare spark plugs.

couldn't agree more, always keep extra plugs on hand whenever you do buy em, and get used to getting to the plug, should you foul that plug out on the trail you'll need to be able to replace it, for whatever reason....its unlikely to happen but you plan for the worst at all times.

I bought 3 plugs from napa auto parts...and installed the spark plug myself...the spark plug I pulled out was like a dark brown/black...so I changed it...and man it's a process...had to take the front and side plastics off...plug the gas tank...it sits right up under the gas tank...but i'm still broke down..I think from me tryin to start it so many times...I killed the battery...so now i'm recharging it...what a slow start for my first ATV...
