Help me decide: Sportsman 850XP or Outlander 800XT
#12
To me the EPS isn't worth 1,000. I am a pretty strong guy and don't feel I need it, I will never be running large tires, and I don't rock crawl. And I also just feel it is one less thing to have to repair.
And I haven't rode one, but you are the first person I heard say that the Outlander rides better than a 850 XP. I rode my buddies Outlander 400 and it doesn't ride near as good as even the old sportsmans.
And I also wasn't going to pay another $2,000 for a quad that would only see part time duty at 2-up. If money was no option I would love to have the dedicated 2-up machine.

I'm selling my 500 X2 with all the goodies to get a new CanAm 650 XT Max with DPS.
If we were closer my X2 has all the things you will need, plow,Bighorns, front rear bumpers, rock guards, winch, clutch kit, hand warmers, etc..........I've rode em all and the new CanAm with DPS and quick lock is where its at. Yes you pay more for a BMW than a Chevy.

You might have missed it, but I already purchased the 850XP. And I don't feel you can compare your 500 x2 to the 850 XP. That is like comparing a Ford Ranger to a Super Duty Diesel, the only thing the same is the name on the side. I am happy you like your Can-Am, they are very nice, I like them as well. But I think it is laughable you compare it to a Polaris 850 XP as a "BMW and a Chevy". Maybe BMW and Mercedes or Audi would be more appropriate.
But I would wager to bet an Chevy frame wouldn't buckle if you tip it over.

I'd say the XP850 is more like a 3/4 ton than a Ranger.
You should have checked over the atvs better and you can easily see why the CA have the advantage now.
You asked which you should buy and since
money was an object, you bought what you could afford that makes you happy, so enjoy.
I just reread your post and you are comparing an X2 to a Ranger and the XP as the SuperDuty???
You need to switch that around to have a better perspective.
The X2 is the big, heavy, 2 seater with the pick up bed.
No one else makes a quad as versatile as an X2!

RickCJ7, this all boils down to personal opinion as well as likes and dislikes. I have ridden the Outlanders and they are a very nice machine, but one ride on the 2010 850 XP and I was sold. IMHO, it rides much smoother than the Outty and the EPS is much nicer than the Can-Am system. The only place the Outty has an advantage is acceleration(sp) and top speed (maybe). Downside, the Outtys have a ****-poor frame. So far I've got about 800 miles on my XP without a hiccup and it's been ridden a lot harder and faster than I ever rode my 500SP. The best part is that it is so smooth and the steering so easy (as well as no kickback), that at the end of a long fast ride, I feel the same as when the ride started.
