Default Oil

I am in the process of changing oil and filters on 2 Yamaha ATV's a 250 and a 350, both 4x4
The book calls for 20w40 oil
I have had a difficult time finding this weight, can I use a 10w 40 or 10w50 or other weight without causing problems?
I can buy a 20w40 from the dealer but they tend to be rather expensive per quart? Any thoughts?

I wouldnt hesitate you use 10w40.....or even 20w50. Another suggestion (and its what I use in EVERYTHING) is Rotella T 15w40. Its very close in viscosity rating to what your manual calls for....closer then the others. Rotella T is a heavy duty diesel oil and is easily found at WalMart. Alot of Harley guys and other motorcycle riders swear by it.

Its also $12 per gallon/$3 a quart.......far cheaper then oil from the dealer.
