And to get one with decent size tires that can really handle highway driving is no cheap affair.

Can some smaller, more fuel efficient trucks accomodate a quad? Never thought the beds would be big enough?
i know i'm posting in here alot, only trying to help...lol

my buddy was able to stuff his honda rancher 420 into the back of his extended cab shortbox s-10....the tailgate didn't close all the way but the qaud was in there overall(had to ratchet the tailgate to the back tires of the quad, he was pulling a trailer with a polaris 800 h.o. on it...and i doubt the polaris would fit back there, but the rancher had an inch or 2 on either side of it, had to drive over the wheel humps though.

as for a fullsize, i have 2" spacers and an extended rear axle on my warrior, its 48" wide and i still have 1" on either side of the tires on the quad(wheel humps in the bed) the overall bed width is 60" i believe between the 2 top rails. You can do a basic google search or take a tape measure with you when looking for your next truck to be sure, i know some fullsize truck beds are smaller than others, and i do believe the new body style f150's is the deepest, least my year is, its just over 22" deep.

I rather carry the ATV then trailer it, the ATV fit between the wheel well but would ride over them easily if there was not enough space. I can close the gate but have a 8 ft box ,but just would leave the gate down if it was to short.

I have a ATV trailer but only use it if I need the box of the truck for camping gear. I have a 04 f-150 regular cab. A good trick is to park the truck on top of your loading ramps so not to get stolen while your out riding.

Good idea.

Wonder how many people of have gone by when you've done that and thought "He shoulda used a stronger set of ramps".

i have a ford ranger witha 6ft bed and i ride a 850 sportsman i could put the quad in the back of the ranger if i rode over the wheel wells and left the tailgate down. but i have a 5x8 utility trailer to haul it i just feel safer doing it that way. plus it gives me more room for camping supplies, fuel, food, and whatever else i want to cart with me.
