Brand A chain and brand B master link?

Brand A chain and brand B master link?
Guy at the store told me sometimes master links from one manufacturer do not fit in another manufacturers chain? Anyone have this happen?
I have a 520 chain marked RK-M. I assume that is a RK chain.
Store has a DID master link
Will they work?
EDIT: Never mind, another local store had a RK master link so I picked it up.
