It's not about having a problem, it's about what is the best! And I did not even know Mobil1 made a fully synthetic 2stroke mix, I've only used the 4T

Question

I was talking to the guy at the auto parts store today about purchasing large quantity's of gas mix oil. He said buy a gallon of outboard motor oil and the only difference is that it has something in it to make it more environment friendly since it exausts into the water. Is this true is it ok to run this oil? If so why isin't ALL mix oil enviormental friendly like this does it make it cheaper? Or will this stuff not perform the same in a motor not on a boat? My friend burns some sort of performace mix oil that makes the exaust smell like RC car fuel when I ride behind him it's weird.

On another note, 93 octane is the highest available at gas stations so that is what I run however I see all these octane boosting formulas out there, so what is the highest you can run your engine at or what is the BEST octane rating to have your gas on a 2 stroke engine? Higher is better but only to a certain point right?

you only need high octane if your running high compression (over 11to1)to prevent spark knock because of a differant flash point.octane boosters only bring it up half a point if that.if you really needed high octane,if you can find 108+leaded racing fuel or even aviation fuel and mix 8 to 1,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Old thread but, can anyone double verify the risks or downsides in using outboard 2 stroke boat mix oil in our 2 stroke bikes and quads?

I just use the cheap 2 stroke oil I get in 2 gallon jugs at Fleet Farm. It has TCW3 rating, which means it's rated for use in outboards. I've been using it for years in everything from chainsaws and trimmers to snowmobiles and ATVs. Unless you have a super high performance engine with special requirements, I see no reason to waste money on overpriced synthetic 2 stroke oil that just gets burned up.

I use Mobil1 Racing 4T 10-40w in my four strokes, but the best stuff they sell for 2 strokes where I work (CAP) is Castrol 2T Motocycle Oil at half the price I payed for the Mobile1 4T. I am using it in my lt250r quad racer, all 2 stroke oil is the same right, weight wise?
I am a true believer in the Amsoil products. They make great products that give you peace of mind knowing your motor will last.
